Ce poate iesi dintr-o mama nigeriana si un tata jamaican? In cazul lui Eddy Wata, vorbim despre un cantaret african de succes. A inceput sa compuna inca de mic piese puternic marcate de originea sa etnica. La 18 ani s-a hotarat sa plece in Jamaica si a ramas acolo 4 ani, timp in care gusturile sale muzicale s-au conturat sub influenta reggae. La intoarcerea in Nigeria a reunit in jurul lui cativa oameni pasionati de reggae si a format o trupa care va cunoaste in scurt timp numeroase aparitii TV. Succesul pe tv a fost urmat de decizia de a pleca in Europa pentru promovarea trupei. Ajuns in Olanda, il intalneste pe producatorul Lino Longoni, care il va atrage intr-o colaborare in Italia. Aici cunoaste in 2003 numerosi DJ, care ii schimba oarecum orientarea, astfel ca in 2004 el lanseaza primul sau single dance de succes, "Jam".
